Librarian, Customer Support

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides hotline support to customers
  • Provides support to customers through onsite visits, workshops, and users group meetings
  • Consults with customers concerning the most effective use of the software
  • Performs in-house and on-site training
  • Identifies, replicates and describes software bugs
  • Describes and submits enhancement and customization requests
  • Reviews user documentation
  • Assists Marketing with library conferences and product demonstrations

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Motivated and service oriented
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally
  • Familiarity with MARC format and library automation
  • Familiarity with OPAC, Cataloging and Circulation

Preferred

  • > 2 years of library experience
  • Knowledge of Acquisitions and Serials

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree is required. Master’s degree in Library Science is preferred although years of library experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Technical Analyst, Customer Support

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs system installations and training
  • Consults with customers concerning the most effective use of the software
  • Provides hotline support to customers
  • Provides support to customers through on-site visits, workshops, and users group meetings
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves software errors
  • Prepares system administration documentation

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Knowledge of Oracle RDBMS databases
  • Knowledge of UNIX
  • Motivated and service oriented
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally

Preferred

  • Knowledge of SQL or other relational databases
  • Experience in systems support/service

Oracle Databse Analyst

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creates and maintains all scripts associated with Virtua databases
  • Upgrades scripts for version upgrades
  • Upgrades database from version to version
  • Provides internal and external consulting on Oracle issues
  • Performs database tuning and performance tuning
  • Assists with problem resolution for Oracle database problems
  • Writes SQL scripts, PL/SQL procedures, functions, packages, and triggers
  • Assists with database design and installation
  • Creates programs that observe, measure and port the performance of Virtua databases

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum

  • Knowledge of Oracle
  • Knowledge of relational database theory, data modeling, data dictionaries, normalization
  • Knowledge of PL/SQL
  • Knowledge of hardware and disk storage functions
  • Understanding of large database requirements
  • Knowledge of client/server, TCP/IP, and networking technology

Preferred

  • Two years Oracle experience or other database experience
  • Completion of one formal Oracle database administration course
  • Working knowledge of C++
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)

Ideal

  • Membership in regional and/or international Oracle Users' Group

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Software Engineer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and maintains external (functional) and internal (implementation) design specifications
  • Assists with development and implementation of test plans
  • Develops source code
  • Conducts code review
  • Fixes code defects, both functional and standards based
  • Keeps abreast of new technology and programming languages
  • Responsibilities may include serving as a mentor to software engineers
  • Responsibilities may include assignment as a project leader, leading a team of programmers, setting team goals, and ensuring goals are met using adequate resources
  • Researches and participates in standards organizations and other organizations related to the library and/or software development industry

Sales Representative

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organizes and conducts seminars for domestic prospects
  • Coordinates and sets-up product demonstrations as required
  • Initiates and conducts VTLS sales contacts for domestic customers
  • Determines if prospects fit target market and software solution
  • Maintains technical skills and product knowledge to present product demonstrations
  • Creates sales tools, visual aides, and presentation support, including demo scripts
  • Maintains domestic Salesforce databases for prospects and customers

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent public relations, training, and demonstration skills
  • Experience in sales or marketing

Preferred

  • Two to three years library sales experience
  • Knowledge of libraries and library automation marketplace

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university. Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS) preferred.
