A better way to manage your finding aids

Virtua for Archives was designed in cooperation with archivists from the National Library of Wales to provide a fully searchable interactive database of archival materials to replace traditional print or XML finding aids. Virtua for Archives supports ISAD(G) with up to 26 levels of description, including the 7 core levels defined in the standard.

Intuitive “tree” display lets researchers explore your collections

Virtua for Archives presents researchers with a hierarchical “tree” display, graphically revealing the relationships among all description records in your archive.

Manage context as well as content

With archival materials, the arrangement and ordering of the items is as important as the descriptions of the items. Virtua Archives Management System gives you the ability to catalog not only individual items such as manuscripts, books, periodicals, pictures, and maps, but also whole archives in a way that makes clear the relationship between the items.

Integrates your finding aids with your digital content

Digital content stored in the VITAL Digital Asset Management system can be directly retrieved from Virtua for Archives, allowing researchers to search the database, browse through finding aids and retrieve the source material online.

Flexible implementation options

Virtua for Archives can be implemented as an integrated module of Virtua for institutions with both libraries and archives or implemented as a standalone implementation or as Software as a Service (SaaS).
